Your premise that people wash more than they used to. If we are talking 100 years, sure, but the diminished lifespan of most clothing has happened over the last 20-30 years, and ease of washing is likely not the culprit in that.

No offense, but I doubt this. The material and stitching of some shirts I have from the 90s is just vastly more durable than anything you can buy today. I have some Nutmeg Mills and Galt Sand shirts and sweatshirts. That stuff is bomb proof.

To me, it is a price per use assessment. I have a hoodie that is about 20. Except for a few years spent in the tropics, I have worn that thing a ton every year.
I have another hoodie that is slightly older but has nowhere near the number of wears in it. It is closer to getting repurposed. Do when I SM looking for quality for my next purchase, I am looking at the characteristics of the former over the latter.

It is not, but planned obsolescence is a thing. I had an $8 toaster last me about 20 years, because I got it in the 90s. Begrudgingly got rid of it after wedding registry and have not had one last more than 5 years since, even at 5x the price of that beautiful bitch.

Do they have different lines or things to watch out for? Like if I go to my local farm supply place, are those better or worse than other places?

Me too. I stumble out of the blocks…or wrong vagina, depending on how you look at it.
