Reply to Download speeds by PopRepresentative968
Yeah that happened to me too and I was thinking maybe I'm paranoid. Similar problem is happening to me while installing games from disc; if I'm connected to internet copying process slows down by a lot but if I disconnect it copies the game in usual speeds.
When download slows I try to restart my PS5, delete the download and start again then it reaches normal speeds for a while then slows down.

I suggest you read a book instead of trying to game on ancient devices then. A Wizard of Earthsea by Ursula Le Guin is great to dive into.

It can but it can stay offline and play most of it's games.
If what you meant was a device which don't have a wifi option at all only thing comes to mind is GameBoy Advance but it's so hard to find cartridges

Reply to Considering switching to PS5 from XSX. Is it worth it? I’ve about 60 games on account so I can’t sell them. I only want PS due to exclusives. by Mayo420blazeit
I do understand the point when people say "consider a PC, Sony will release it's exclusives eventually" but their ports lately requires absurdly expensive systems to get same or more performance than PS5. And when those exclusives "eventually" comes to PC, your godly gaming computer today will be mid or low tier by that time. That's why getting a PS5 if you're interested in their exclusives seems like the cheapest and best way to experience them in my opinion.
That being said, Xbox is really at a turning point right now. I expect many surprises from them besides the games they already announced. You might want to keep your XSX in the long run. TL;DR get ps5 but keep your Xbox if possible.

You can lower output resolution from settings to get that desired bad visuals. I tried that to see if I can get 60 fps and ray tracing in Deathloop, results were great. I played all 2 minutes of it
celcius_451 t1_j3lrspy wrote
As far as I remember from all the Digital Foundry videos I binged, developers usually choosing higher resolution but not stable (small drops from here and there) frame rate for Xbox SX and lower resolution but stable frame rate for PS5. I remember Hitman 3 and Cyberpunk 2077 being like that for example.
But to my eyes if someone doesn't circle the differences in bright red and shows it to me I can't understand the small differences in shadow rendering techniques and whatnot. They should look almost same.

Reply to Do I get a ps5?? by GoofiestGooberest
Depends on how much money you can spend. Xbox is great as you know, with gamepass it's the ultimate user-friendly/cheapest game machine ever launched. Yet anybody here could count 10-20 PS games that Xbox has no competition against. It looks like this is going to change but let's be real it's going to take at least a generation for Xbox to have as much heavy hitters as PS.
Personally I have little time for exploring indie games and optimizing graphics settings so I go with consoles and mostly with PS5 and Switch. Their exclusives from Demon's Souls to Mario Odyssey, Uncharted to Zelda, Gran Turismo to Ghost of Tsushima and many more never let me down really. I try smaller games when I'm off the work at summers but my gaming life is like this.
To answer your question, those PS games hold good value. Check them out, even try them out if you can. If you like them PS5 is as great a console as Xbox, you can't go wrong.

Totally agree, more comfortable for sure. But after experiencing DualSense, clicks and triggers of the Xbox controller feels a bit empty to me. New elite controller was a huge missed opportunity to bring adaptive triggers to Xbox in my opinion. But there could be a legal issue with that, you never know with Sony these days
celcius_451 t1_j1fj5i6 wrote
Sounds like he would love Gran Turismo 7, RE: Village, Doom 2016 (and maybe Eternal after that). I bet he would love adaptive triggers.
Though...
When you're grooming a new gamer what you offer to them first usually don't stick. After your initial offer they find something THEY like by THEMSELVES. Which, let's be honest is how we enjoy gaming, by choosing our own games. Imagine someone asking you to play x game every other day, I would hate that game for a while for sure

You can get PS4 physical games dirt cheap lately, and you can sell them or collect them. It's how I play my games mostly.
It's too early to say anything about current gen but I think for the last gen, PS4 rocks because it has many games that you can't play on its competitors consoles. Days Gone, Until Dawn, Detroit, Horizon 1&2, God of War (2018 and Ragnarok), Gran Turismo 7, Last of Us Remastered&2, Bloodborne, Uncharted 1 to 4, Death Stranding are the ones coming to mind. Many other stuff is cross platform so there's also that.
In short I'd go for PS4. Pro if possible but not necessarily.

The Last of Us Remastered, I probably have at least 400 hours on it
Followed closely by Fallout 4

I have a high end-ish PC that can perform 4k 60hz very well and a PS5 for some exclusives. I play with a 9th gen Xbox controller on PC and I also love it. But after experiencing DualSense I slowly started to switch to PS5 just because of the controller. I even bought RE Village, Cyberpunk 2077 and Deathloop again on PS5 even though I own them at PC.
I also played Series X at my friends since it's trending and everyone here is buying Xbox'es. It's my two cents but even with slightly powerful hardware, performance and fidelity of SX seems same with PS5 to me.
Long story short I think it's worth to get ps5 just because of the controller because it's an important part of your experience and everything else seems par. But I suggest that you find a PS5 and play on it to experience yourself first, don't just take my word.

Well, even if the game isn't updated for current gen, running it on PS5 has stable frame rate advantage. I remember my base PS4 would struggle to give locked 30 in some demanding games.
It's nothing big but for example you can play Monster Hunter World in quality mode and 60 fps on PS5.

I bought a TV last year and my partner bought a monitor two months ago. Here's what I learned from all our research before our purchases:
From my limited knowledge monitors usually have freesync not vrr. And vice versa for TV's. It's not impossible to find a monitor with vrr and tv with freesync but it would be hard I imagine.
Adding to that there is no 1440p TV's that I know of. Only 1080p or 2160p.
I easily experience sensory overload from visual and audio sources so it's really really important for me to look at pleasant, balanced and not oversaturated colors on a monitor. I tried many brands at my local electronics shop with my laptop thanks to understanding staff and decided that Samsung and LG has best looking panels in both TV's and monitors.
If you're looking something smaller than 32 inches I recommend you check out Samsung Odyssey G5. If you're looking something bigger around the same price range, 43 inch for example, check out Samsung M5 or M7. Those were my favorites.
celcius_451 t1_ixoazy2 wrote
Samsung has good price/performance monitors. Look for M5 and M7 series. If you're below 4k don't ever worry about frame rate drops in both consoles.
Also Hogwarts Legacy is coming to both Xbox Series and PS5 as far as I know.
You have some experience with Nintendo exclusives as you said, if you're into that you might check PlayStation exclusives too. Xbox is clearly the better console in many ways but it's a machine that you buy to play games so, I think it's better to make your choice based on which games you're looking forward to play not better GPU and CPU etc.
That being said I think PS5 is a better choice in my opinion today. This is coming from someone who owns both consoles. Xbox has good games on the horizon but they're yet to deliver whereas PS5 has already great exclusives.
3rd party games are similar on both consoles performance-wise so no worries on that end.
Lastly try to get a console with disc driver. In the long run you can buy some games cheaper as physical copies or share some games with your friends. Don't get stuck to digital storefront only.

I was sure it'd be Elden Ring even though Ragnarök would be the bomb. But now that I'm playing it, man the game never gets dull, whenever you think you got it some new gameplay mechanic or new character is introduced. I'm just in awe. I imagine it'd be a vertical console like series x but get this... It's a Sonic Head... With no eyes!!!
Physical games would come in like switch cartridges but get this... They're eyes for this Sonic bust. If you play digital only, Sonic would stare you with his empty eye holes.
And goes without saying, it'd have perfect thermals and wouldn't overheat at all. This is my prediction.

Reply to Considering Selling PS5 after two years by Umbruhh
What I learned from these kind of posts in the last year is in anything recreational, what matters is you being happy. You could argue that buying an original Xbox is better than PS5 today and actually have some valid points. There will always be someone with a counter argument with valid points too.
So unless you're asking something like "which gpu will render my premiere project faster" it all boils down to what makes you happy, you can just like the physical design of the console and go for it because of that.
If you don't want to read my rambling, in short, asking something like "do you think sony will release good exclusives every year" instead of this would greatly improve what we discuss here. Your question has been discussed many times, maybe check that posts.
