The atmosphere was nice but the dishes were always better in concept than execution

Reply to Best Pho or Ramen? by IAmRube
Seconding Saigon Bistro: it's my go to for no-frills pho
For ramen: Miso Ramen is solid but Muteki (either JC or Hoboken) and South Street (Hoboken) are probably the best of the bunch

Reply to Best french fries in downtown JC? by dpw59
I'll make the case for Abbey's: crisp, crunchy, and....potato-y in a way a lot of other fries aren't

Reply to Is District Kitchen BUMPIN' during the day like Reading Terminal Market or Industry City in Brooklyn? by BeMadTV
I used to work in the building. When District Kitchen opened, it had the usual office worker crowds for lunch.
Post pandemic? Like others have said: it's pretty quiet. Some of the better options (Canteen, Left Bank, the Korean/Mexican fusion spot) left for good.

Reply to why did Hoots Wings close? by Thecomputerkid94
I had high hopes for Hoots: Jersey City's still lacking a solid wing spot.
They weren't great the one time I did takeout

I've never hated the bagels there but: that's encouraging! A whitefish salad craving will be slaked in the near future

Reply to Hard Grove is closing today by luxuryparking_
Damn: they were an institution downtown. I was skeptical when they moved from the corner of Grove and Columbus years back, but the food got even better in the current spot.
I'm going to miss their Gloria Estefan panini
