I did it for 18 months. Feasible? Yea, sure. But here are some caveats you should be aware of.

Trains do run late...even the keystone line.

Accidents on the line happen and delays can happen...which can leave you super effed in regards to time. The logistics of it all are terrible...even if say you live very close to 30th Street Station, there are many points of failure from commuting by train to HBG each day. Even still...unless you have a job at Harrisburg University or the Capital building...where walking isn't bad...you'll be huffing it to get to work.

Eventually my stint of that commute ended, but the commute can be brutal. Plus the monthly passes and only a small discount comparably, so you'll feel the drain of tickets quickly.

This past summer in Cumberland County 》Carlisle area 》North Middleton Township 》 Boiling Springs 》Area around Children's Lake 》trail behind the public pool had considerable amounts of egg masses.

Luckily, my friends and I went colonial marines on their assss and destroyed as many as we could find (5 friends, two hours, prolly 200 such masses) but we feel we barely made a dent.

Army War College in Carlisle, PA.

We aren't military but their space is exquisite with on site catering, full bat service, lovely grounds for outside ceremony, etc. And affordable as weddings go (rental, catering and open bar for 200 people was 20k)

Downsides: all guests must be accounted for on your guest list, thorough check before getting on base, and you can't bring your own alcohol on base. The rules are thorough but it was an amazing location.

Feed your photographer, video Grapher, and DJ's and you'll have a great time.

Harrisburg gets a lot of hate, some rightfully so, some unjustly.

I've worked in Harrisburg from 2008 up until 2020, and before that I'd been to Harrisburg frequently for shows, events, the state museum, etc. and what I've found is that the city can be a truly beautiful place and there are great people living, and working, and building a community in Harrisburg (and I'm not talking about just Midtown.)
