Sure but then you'd have spent more money on hardware alone, all your games, achievements, saves, profiles etc are all on one system and that's not even taking into the consideration the other benefits PC can get you like simple emulation, modding, any controller support (like having your 1 friend that has an xbox bring his controller over and the other friend who has joycons bring his while you use your playstation controller), cheaper games, more games, cheaper storage expansion etc loads more that are probably not relevant to you specifically. In 10-20 years your games you paid for will still be compatible if you want to jump back in for nostalgia, something I unfortunately can't say for some older sports titles on modern xbox and playstation.

Probably around 1000 to 1200 if you built it yourself, a few hundred more for a pre made one, if you were willing to find pre owned parts like 750-900 instead, then any cheap peripheral will work, an existing one you already have is free obviously. then over time you'd make up the difference by not paying for online and cheaper games, over the cost of 7 years (about how long it takes until new console) youd save about 700 dollars alone in just a subscription to play online, over the past 2 years youd have saved around 1500-2000 in free games from epic games, then ofcourse games being cheaper brings that down even more. Then after all those savings you get all the benefits i listed in my other comment, the only downsideds are entry cost and possible finding it hard to get up and running i suppose but id say the benefits outweigh the negatives hugely. From personal experience ive turned a few tech illiterate console friends into PC users and they all tell me it just isnt as hard as theyve been told, I also think using a PC is just so useful in general for day to day life and not knowing how to use one until you have to later at a job or something is probably annoying haha, hope this helps and if you are personally looking for recommendations ill give my two cents

Your measure for what is good isn't what is considered actually good, PC has cheaper games, more games, more free games, more controller options, can be cheaper or more expensive, has a full VR library, can mod games, multi monitor support, higher refresh rates, higher resolutions, free online, any peripheral you want, more audio options, better recording software and video editing features, epic games weekly free games, steam, humble bundle, emulation at higher than native performance and resolution, better chatting options, mouse and keyboard, ability to use PC to do other things, ability to have access to playstation and xbox exclusives over time or now, game pass, small PC, big PC, portable PC. You being able to use a $600 console on a $1400 TV to play fortnite with a controller at 4k doesn't matter when PC has all that and more, that's why I recommend a PC over a console, 4k gaming doesn't matter when you have to pay $10 dollars every month just to play online and every game costs $70

It's hard to not recommend a PC, it's just such a better experience at any price point it's amazing, consoles gamers are rarely playing console solely because they want to use the xbox UI or get some games every month with playstation plus, they want to use a console because they want to play games and have new experiences, PC is just better at doing that
