I don't know what a whole satellite costs, but we are making and selling telemetry tracking and control transponders with integrated data payloads in the order of 10s of millions of EUR. So if just the radio used for sending the control signals to and from the satellite range into the 10 million EUR range, this doesn't doesn't crazy to me.

Such a weird question... I mean if something works well, why wouldn't you want a couple of them?

Especially if you consider the delta case of putting the same panels in the field next to you versus launching them into orbit.

The real challenge is getting a physically large enough aperture to overcome the free space path loss. As a microwave engineer in the space industry, I really don't think it's feasible. Mostly, I don't think that spaced based solar would actually produce more than it's ground based equivalent over it's lifetime once you factor in the energy cost of getting it to orbit.
