Do they deliver? That looks awesome but their $12.15 sandwich on their website is $16.50 on any of the delivery apps lol.
It says they deliver on the site but the page is blank /shrug

There’s gonna be a hundred other people walking the same direction, it literally could not be safer. Walk across the lock if you don’t want to deal with chaotic traffic, plus a kind of unique experience

Lot of homeless people, you’ll probably just be asked for spare change a bunch, at least in my experience. I’d say it’s sketchy but generally safe.

What part of town are you going to be around?
Hotels, restaurants, and bars all over the place, anybody asks any questions "im meeting someone", but id guess you already know how to get it done lol
Cant think of anywhere in particular that i'd steer clear of, maybe the financial district? Evertyhing kinda closes down there on the weekend, but again theres a hotel on practically every corner
One of the first things I noticed about Boston when I moved here was how much smaller it was than I expected, its a very walkable city

Yeah 80 does not sound fun
Just basing it off the cities im familiar with, mostly NYC and Boston, and a 60 minute door to door one way commute would be seen as completely standard, albeit shitty.
Something like a 10 min drive to the local train station, 40 minute train ride, 5 minute walk to a subway, 10 minute subway ride, 5 minute walk to the office is like the norm for any suburb of NYC

Hate to break this to you but a 1hr commute is generally pretty standard
Shit sucks but that would be considered pretty normal in most major US cities

The prospect of taking two modes of public transportation to the casino of all places so OP can buy the cheapest steak in the area of all things is making me chuckle

Beacon Hill for sure, all the random side streets, Louisburg Square.
The end of the pier thing over by the bocce courts in the North End overlooking the harbor.
Never been but the harbor island islands probably.
Charlestown shipyard.
Public Garden on a nice day.

Also if you’re sitting in the coldest part of the house just get a portable tiny space heater and set that up next to your preferred sitting spot. They’re probably horribly inefficient so double check that first when buying one (power consumption and do some quick math) but it has to be better than cooking the rest of your house so you can sit in the chilliest spot

I mean if I’m at a bar and 2 sub 500 NBA teams from across the country are battling it out in a meaningless game I’d rather watch anything else, much more exciting to put a couple dollars on it with a buddy and sit there and get pumped up about some guy hitting a meaningless 3 with 4 minutes left down 25 because you’ve got 10 bucks on him having over 12 points or something lol
Different strokes for different folks, it’s obviously a predatory Industry but so are tons of others that we just accept as part of life

I mean it’s also just entertainment, same way you pay for any other entertainment. Shut going to a sporting event with 1 other person and grabbing some food and drinks runs you easily around 150-200 bucks nowadays, no harm in someone putting 20 bucks on games here and there for entertainment value. Would like to see advertising restricted though, same as booze/cigarettes.

Honestly seaport in general, pay for the overpriced beers at Cisco or trillium, take that stereotypical tourist photo on the harborwalk. Buy some mediocre quality seafood at barking crab.

Even that is unlikely. If you’re subletting from June-august it’s likely the tenant already isn’t renewing and someone else already signed the September lease

If you absolutely need to get to Chicago (im assuming holiday stuff?) you could probably also fly into a half dozen other airports and grab the Amtrak to Chicago. Obviously less than ideal but just popped into my mind as a last resort. Heres an amtrak map centered on chicago.
