Yeh you sound like a good teacher. I 100% agree with this approach. As someone who loves literature and critical theory but is not a teacher, I think the whole point of good lit (or art even) is the connections the reader makes, you don't learn or grow from obvious things, you have to go through a process of developing critical thinking and a perceptive eye, and I think a good teacher guides a student through that experience and building the skills to practice it themselves.

Depending on what op is looking for this is almost certainly it. Most books are $1, and plenty of good condition/quality books are for relatively cheap, then they do a half priced day and a bag day (just pay for a bag a fill it up) the last 2 days

But anyways, walk into the greene county clerks office when they are open sometime this week and you can cast an absentee ballot, otherwise vote on election day at your polling place or one of the central polling places.

You can also do no excuses in person absentee voting at the county clerks office right now. I'd forgotten all about that.

You can still vote at the location it tells you you can vote at, and if you were registered in greene county (not 100% of republic is greene county) you can vote at one of the "anyone registered in the county can vote here" places like the city utilities bus terminal and on campus somewhere (i forget). You just need an unexpired missouri ID.

It is too late to register to vote for the midterm this Nov. But I belive you can register at the dmv. And I know you can register at the libraries in town and the county clerks office. You can register now and be ready next time.

It's sad af. People talk so much trash on homeless folks as if their mere existence is such an inconvenience, meanwhile it's such a stressful and dangerous way to have to actually live. I don't understand how so many in our community can be so uncaring.

Idk the stats for springfield, but I've read the stat from a source I trust that like 30+% of women who experience homelessness are the victim of some sort of physical or sexual assault in the average year. A van probably affords a lot of protection but it's still going to expose you to greater risk. Unless you have a great spot to park, or drive out to an overnight spot at at some sort of park outside of time, and unless you have an endgoal in mind I wouldn't risk it.

Most spd I see are in suvs, there is literally no way they could catch most of those motorcyclists if the bikers really wanted to get away.

This area is the fastest growing area in the state and has been for a decade or so, specifically ozark and republic are two of if not the fastest growing cities in the state, so it's definitely a thing.

That house has been vacant the entire time I've lived here. A few years ago someone tried to convert it into a bandb/ long term stay place targeted towards folks with family at mercy and they wouldn't let them rezone it for that either. Idk, if you are asking for an exception they can probably ask for some sort of proof, just like you can get an accommodation for a disability at work, but HR will want some sort of proof. I would negotiate to provide the proof that reveals the least you want to expose about your health. I work in a public building and we can ask what an animal is trained to do, that is the limit, so a note from a Dr saying this animal is trained to do x for this person might be good.

It should be noted, emotional support is not covered by the ada. So that is more of a no man's land in terms of laws/protections
