We got to vote and organize for our local city council elections which are often decided between literally 5-150 votes… we have to keep going door to door during campaign season!

Regardless of the reasons (though I’m curious…) we just know from COMMON SENSE that this will limit the housing supply and put upward pressure on prices… not good… of course it allows the City to avoid dealing directly with the complicated, real issue of… noise pollution. Forcing students to live part continues to ignore the underlying problem across the city… and exacerbate the absurd housing market.

I love this fast fact. We should invest more in multilingual education! Good for the economy and good for the soul.

Southside is where it is really at.
Most diverse in every way, most neighborly, therefore not exactly the quietest in the Summer.
Anywhere along Elmwood or Broad. You could walk or cycle to work.
Don’t be shy!

Thanks for posting this!!
I’m sitting here wondering… when/how can actual survivors of child sexual abuse (I am one of many, many diverse stories) speak up and check talking point from people who (seemingly) have no first-hand idea what they are talking about.
WHY ARE YOU CLAIMING TO SPEAK FOR US? Ever ask survivors what they think would help?
(And this is sort of outside politics as I am independent/moderate/eclectic). Obviously elements of the GOP are running with this right now and it’s infuriating… as a survivor….
Go r/you

I hope the above response is sincere and accurate. Stranger things have happened than an 80 year old doing something they didn’t quite understand. Much stranger things have happened but that’s just my personal assessment based on my life experiences. EVEN IF he sort of meant it: to “commiserate” with the “Lost Cause” but didn’t realize it’s implications… especially in the wake of things like domestic terrorist attacks in Charlottesville, Pittsburgh, Charleston, Washington DC, etc etc etc… my sense is we should extend as much grace, mercy, knowledge, and compassion (which is different from forgive and forget— I like forgiving, forgetting not as much) toward even our bonafide enemies, we might get farther in changing their hearts and the hearts of their children, over time. Or we could just call our neighbors our enemy and be pissed which IS understandable too… Providence is a great city. That’s still my takeaway.

Our (losing) independent political campaign for City Campaign was built around community service and clean ups. We do clean ups but only in Ward 9. We will be doing one on earth day based in certain overlooked spots based on neighborhood feedback.

Pay attention to local elections folks… where decisions actually get made…. Biggest illusion out there is that federal government impacts our life the most hence deserves all the coverage and dollars… didn’t always used to be like that either…

There is a problem in my neighborhood with people going 90MPH in residential areas yes.
Point taken about the police state. But I also favor ending the War on Drugs and LEOBOR and several other key criminal justice reforms. I think we can have eclectic points of view. In fact I think most people do and rarely fit into a neat little box. Thanks!

Speed cameras yeah… you don’t have the right to go 90MPH in a neighborhood filled with schools. Besides, more cameras = fewer police stopping people for “suspicious” activity…
DiegoForAllNeighbors t1_j8phlbi wrote
They have slowed cars down in our neighborhood for sure. Not everything but it’s part of the solution and bike lanes, and cameras and noise cameras and raised side walks etc etc… feels like lots of small things make the big difference, over time.
