We're definitely a better sunrise state than sunset! They're harder to catch, but it's worth waking up for. Most places on the south coast or Narragansett will give you a good view over the water. Fisherman's Memorial in Point Judith is the first specific place that comes to mind for me.

Took mine for a walk finally and he fell through the frozen narrow river, rolled around in the sand, and overall seemed rather unphased despite his icicle butt fluff 🤷‍♂️

Honestly changing your lightbulbs makes a HUGE difference. I can't believe there are still people using incandescent.

But I get your point. It's like "Here's a hot tip to save money! Use less electricity. Have you tried shutting off the TV and lights and just sitting alone in the dark with your thoughts?"

Thanks for the most rational argument against this I've heard so far. I'm not familiar with the 195 commission guidelines or how they were arrived at, but I'd like to learn more. My pet peeve is all the zoning restrictions and yet every project seems to get a variance. Either decide the zoning should change, or follow the rules!

Affordability is mostly a matter of supply and demand. Most new construction isn't affordable the same way most new cars aren't affordable, but there won't be used cars on the market if no one buys the new ones. This will lower rents across the city as rich people move here instead of outbidding you on what should be cheaper places. This explains it well.

I mean the ads are there before any news story. It's not a deliberate choice. What's maybe more low is spending about as much time lamenting the traffic situation for commuters as the loss of a life. Hell, this post didn't even bother mentioning that someone was killed.

I'm really sorry - that sounds like an awful situation. You're also using an obscene amount of electricity for a mobile home. I'm guessing it's mostly resistive heating and your home has no insulation. Inquire about a home energy assessment ASAP. They're really helpful and will tell you the best way to lower that bill (likely insulation). Especially if you're low income, the improvements are reduced cost or free!

I've said it before, but this isn't a result of RI Energy just deciding to make more profit... it's RI Energy stocking up on natural gas when prices were super high this fall so we can make it through the winter without rolling blackouts. There are alternative suppliers you can buy from, but they're not cheaper!

It's a shitty situation for sure, but I'd say it's more "F*ck you fossil fuel based economy". At least RI has the most aggressive renewable energy target in the country and hopefully prices like this will be a thing of the past soon.

tallest natural plunge waterfall. Plunge is key here. Depending on your exact definition of cascade, I'm sure there are taller cascades. And definitely more impressive falls in terms of flow rate. Anyway, it's a fun superlative! Does RI has the smallest tallest waterfall of all the states? That would be even more fun.

I would bet on electricity being the cheaper option in the long run. It's only expensive this winter because natural gas is expensive this winter. A big chunk of our electricity will come from offshore wind soon and RevWind signed a PPA locked at 7.8 cent/kWh! That's not to mentions all the other good reasons to switch!
