Is it really? The Oscars haven't even happened yet.

Reply to comment by CaptainEO in Once lost footage from Lon Chaney horror classic to screen in NYC by AC_1440
It could have been "A Blind Bargain", which is allegedly more of a horror film than "London After Midnight". Also many film historians think "The Miracle Man" is probably the best/most important lost Chaney film but that's a drama, not horror. "London After Midnight" doesn't really sound that great from the info we have on it. Allegedly a lot of the film is more comedic, with Chaney as the Inspector (not in the "Man in the Beaver Hat" disguise).

Reply to comment by MoonMan997 in Speculation: Is Paul Thomas Anderson’s upcoming film the recently announced Karate Kid instalment? by MoonMan997
Spielberg is not struggling to have a film land in theaters and neither is PTA. Small release films exist.
You're ignoring the main factor which is the lack of control for PTA. Why would he choose this over doing his own movies? He still gets funding to make the character based dramas he's always made. Why blemish his filmography with a Karate Kid movie? Why would he randomly swerve into this lane for no apparent benefit?

No it's not. Your evidence is a Ralph Macchio quote and that casting call info? Think about it for a second. Say it out loud and listen to yourself.

Totally insane year for film:
- There Will Be Blood
- No Country for Old Men
- Assassination of Jesse James
- Zodiac
- Before the Devil Knows You're Dead
- Gone Baby Gone
Even the more lighthearted stuff was awesome:
- Hot Fuzz
- Ratatouille
- Superbad
- Walk Hard
