Thanks it sounds stupid but a few years ago I looked at this location and couldn't find the assigned spots that they spoke of . Given how easy it is to get towed from private lots I gave up on joining this gym.

The idea that condos aren't a good investment is dependent on where you are geographically . In some markets they're great, in others they're riskier. In Cambridge and Somerville you'll be fine.

Condos however can be a pain with families because you have to deal with an HOA usually. Sometimes, it can be not a big deal, if the HOA is easy going. Other times it can be a nightmare.

It sounds like an unsustainable warranty. How long do they think they can keep replacing socks without any real constraints. At the end of the day they'll tighten up on their warranty terms once enough people purchase the socks. Otherwise, no way can they manage the cost.

Also, I'm not saying you can't units like these . What I'm saying is that in a triple decker if your plumber doesn't do a great job then your washer can flood two other units. So to do it optimally, it's a lot more work.

For example, you'd want a much more robust drain to reduce the risk of a water backup. You'd want a floor drain or pan as well ideally.

The reason so many condos are against someone adding laundry after things are built is because the plumbing can be very complicated to do right in some cases. There is less of a margin for error since if something like a drain clog happens you can flood multiple units.

Running proper plumbing, drainage, electrical, vent, and possibly a gas connection can cost thousands to do correctly. Usually the easiest thing to do is to install a washer/dryer combo in the kitchen. You can get a model that install like a dishwasher.

There are a lot of people who feel the same way as you do. Here's a simple solution. Sublet an apartment in NYC for a month. See how you feel.

People debate if Boston is racist. I'll stay out of that conversation. But I will say that lots of people in Boston aren't used to having friends outside of their social demographics.
