My advice for roaches when moving is to familiarize yourself with what the eggs look like, and don’t bring any food with you from one place to another (cereal boxes, pasta etc). Take extra care when moving your garbage can or compost or anything like that.

Be super hot on checking and cleaning and taking the garbage out more frequently when you first move in. Bringing a roach from the old place to the new is not the end of the world, as long as you get it out before it lays eggs, things can quickly escalate.

We got roaches in our building when a nearby building was torn down. I fortunately spotted a cluster of eggs on the lid of the compost bin after seeing one or 2 in the kitchen, I threw the whole bin out and was super on top of the pest control for a while. This was a year and half ago and I haven’t see one since!

Ok so for anyone searching this in a panic because they’ve accidentally locked themselves out (it was me I was that person) there is a guy in Manhattan, available on short notice, comes super quickly, all 5 star reviews on google.

He came, made us agree to pricing upfront incase it worked/didn’t work, he opened the door essentially with a credit card to wiggle it around, took my boyfriends phone from his hands to add his own 5* google review and then left. All in all probably about 10 minutes. We are still in awe of this man and this encounter.

Literally felt like a dream, do I wish all fixes could be so quick? Was I shocked/impressed at the confidence this man entered his own 5 star review on google (including a comment), do I encourage you to YouTube it first?

1000 x yes
