This is why I always park out in the farther areas of parking lots, to stay away from pedestrians. That is a good point about the pillars on the sides of windshields. They are much larger these days than they used to be even 20 years ago. In the summer, before entering a road, I always do a sort of head swinging movement both left and right so I can see around the pillars and make sure there isn't anyone coming from either direction.

I don't know about Bangor, but we have a similar situation in the mornings lately in the Capitol area of Augusta. When they are in the trees right outside my house, they will wake me up around 4:00 a.m. I don't want to describe what condition my car is in lately. Other clear mornings, I can hear them out somewhere else in the neighborhood. The rain this morning must have them seeking shelter elsewhere.

Despite signs up at the Augusta Shaw's saying no appointment necessary, when I asked, they said I would have to book an appointment. Shaw's, Hannaford, CVS, and Walgreens right in the area didn't show any appointments until well into the next week. But I did see an opening same day for the Walgreens in Fairfield, so I took the half hour drive and got it done.
