these signals have gotten so messed up recently i don't know why. i've been reporting them via the webform but nothing is getting done
i consistently see red light for cars, no trains. 30-60 seconds pass. train comes and approaches intersection. car traffic light turns green, train light is go.
this has been 3, 1 of those times the car traffic light suddenly turned red (i think it did show yellow but literally went green yellow red in less than 2 seconds).

i can smell the venti one from 3 blocks away. how they manage to make such a good cutlet out of a truck is utterly mind blowing to me
to be honest i even asked the guys on the truck, they say the answer is they fry it to order -shrug-
their sandwiches are all amazing but this one is the most surprising to come out of a truck at that quality

i always thought it was just borrowed by japanese-american restaurants because it all gets mixed up here, but i did just google and apparently it's called takuan in japanese and is indeed one of the traditional pickle dishes

it is korean and called danmuji. it is available at 99ranch, see below picture for the most common packaging i've seen, i'm 99% (see what i did there) it's in the fridge furthest from the entrance on the right hand side near the prepared food

i'm not clear what the concern you are looking to address actually is here but a few pieces of information:
- credit monitoring is not second-by-second live. just because you received an alert 3 minutes after does not mean the credit was run 10 seconds before you got the email
- credit pulls are not free, it'd be a uniquely stupid idea to run credit scores to just laugh at people. that said, i encounter many stupid people in life so it is still possible they did this
- if she did run the credit report after she rejected you it would be a violation of your privacy. if you want the impact of that on your credit score to be removed you can contact the credit bureaus (though i'll say the impact is very small). if you want the supervisor of the application reviewer to know you should contact the management company. however either way per #1 you may need to better understand and obtain evidence that this actually occurred the way you think

Reply to Where can I take a train to have a nice walk by Browen20
you can walk the boardwalk/waterfront all the way to the GWB and the park that's underneath.
realistically i would say that's a trip for a bike not on foot but you can obviously walk as much of it as you feel like and turn around.

on #1 i've seen some condos that allows the building maintenance staff to do work in residents' buildings for a set fee. you can choose to get a plumber, or ask the super, etc

i was specifically told that all floors have the same size windows and that upper floors are not full glass view. i asked maybe 4-5 times, i even specifically asked why it looks like that from the outside then, they said behind the glass is still a load bearing wall
when i asked why it was done this way they said it was purely aesthetic / design to have it duo-tone
i trust sales agents as far as i can throw them, and they never showed me any of the upper floors, but just sharing what i was told

Reply to Jersey City dog friendly? by BerryFit3491
people have given you good advice and commentary already. how dog friendly is purely relative, i have not lived in the UK but i found europe overall to be more dog friendly than america as a whole, and jersey city slightly less dog friendly than america as a whole but purely because of population density and lack of space (as opposed to social stigma or anything)
there is nowhere you are allowed to have the dog off leash other than dog parks. dog parks themselves are very small, most commonly the size of a 1 bedroom apartment. there are a couple of larger one, i.e. 1/2 an acre etc. you'll obviously not be the only dog
furthermore there are restrictions on the number, type, and size of dogs in high rise apartment buildings. you said 2 but did not specify the size, generally limit is 50lbs. pitbulls and certain other types of sometimes banned. several buildings only allow 1 dog per unit. smaller buildings and individual landlords will have their own specific rules so you'll find more variation and therefore more flexibility if needed
finally dogs are not allowed on the train or subway unless they are transported in a carrier. again it therefore depends on the size of the dog. this restriction therefore makes it impossible to move some dog around without a car, though uber does work

if you would like folks to assist, you're going to need to give some information. what are you looking for, what is your budget, what are your priorities, how many people are you, where are you commuting to, etc
otherwise all forms of habitation in jersey city are potentially suitable for you

people have given you some decent suggestions but the only other one i'd say is your decision is not final. you can always re-buy your car again in x years if you change your mind, and you'll likely be financially better for for not having owned a car during those x years.

do you have special situations other than working in NYC living in NJ? if so you might want to list it out a bit so people point you to the right level of service
that said if your only special situation is working in nyc living in nj literally anyone can do your taxes including HR block

ah i see, much clearer now
i did have a similar situation, and what happened was i called 3 months later and they looked at my average usage and credited me the rest
my situation was not a broken meter but rather when i moved in i think they just subtracted my meter from the last time it was rented by someone so i was asked to pay for all the interim months

i know it's not exactly what you're looking for but 99 ranch has everything you need to do this yourself. get the extra dry duck, you can cut it yourself if you are good with a knife and are picky about making like the restaurant style, otherwise ask them to cut and take the bones out by hand.
the buns are in the freezer, scallions in produce, cucumbers in produce, sweet bean paste is in a can.

if you really want to get to the bottom of it just read the meter yourself and turn different things off... no heat for 1 day see what happens. no cooking on an electric stove (i.e. eat out for a day). track it for a few days and you might figure it out
flapjack212 t1_j16lkcn wrote
i'm kind of confused what the issue is you might need to streamline your question rather than provide all the details. is the end situation that you had your meter read and it says you used 2000 kw?
they can do an energy audit or you can pay for a new meter. however the existing meter is almost certainly correct, the only low likelihood possibility is somehow your meter is including something that is not your apt (i.e. the garage or something). the much more high likelihood situation is that you are indeed using that much power (PTAC heater is the biggest culprit)

Reply to Bicycle commuter friendly? by efronerberger
I've seen bikes removed from street signs [by the city] so I wouldn't suggest it, but I also overall don't suggest locking things to street signs are they are often "removable" at the base...
regarding safety other users all shared commentary similar to how i feel. on the one hand a lot of delivery people are on e-bikes on the streets every day and reported bike fatalities are not astronomical. on the other hand my experiences with drivers here has been terrible so I could never openly say it's a reasonable method of transportation for the general population

See the following link for adult literacy / GED volunteering. If you have an fluency in spanish (or maybe eastern european languages) that would be a plus too as many of the people that need help speak those languages, but it is definitely not required. https://www.jclibrary.org/resources/literacy-program/#Volunteers
The library have a college readiness program as well but I don't know if they take volunteers or how that works. Someone else said it, but the issue is many kids come from families that never had anyone go to college. This means no one in their lives even knows how to apply, how to select schools, what steps need to be taken (what are SATs, SAT vs ACT, when to take then, where to take them, how to apply, how to have money to apply, etc).
If you call the library I'm sure they can talk out what opportunities are available.
The parks have their own associations and neighborhood groups you should reach out directly to them. https://www.fvvp.org/ or https://www.hpnajc.org/ for example.
For soup kitchen / shelter work the two I know of are st lucy's and the sharing place.
If you like animals there are a bunch of rescue groups in the area that need fosters for dogs / cats. If you don't want them in your home they actually often also need volunteers to help escort animals to the vet (if you don't have a car they will pay for your uber, they need the person more than the vehicle many times) or to house-sit when the foster is away for the weekend, or to just walk the animals during the day when people are at work, etc etc.

i think a better question might be considering what type of volunteering you'd like to do?
the library has GED tutoring programs for example. the local parks have cleanup and gardening work. there are soup kitchens here (the work is mostly unloading / unpacking etc). someone recently posted about playing piano at hospitals. there's enough dog poop that can be it's own job...
just some ideas, but you might already know which skill you'd like to offer
