Centurion is a mountain ash, but yeah, depending on how you define 'tall', the average height of extant mountain ash in Australia is significantly reduced from what it once was.

It's true we have a lot of dry bush, scrubland and desert, but we also have quite a bit of various types of rainforest - cf. this promo.
Marysville is near the Yarra Ranges National Park, which features temperate rainforest, together with stands of Mountain Ash, which typically grow to a height of more than 70m / 230 feet. Here's a photo of some of them alongside a road in the Black Spur area.
