Yeah that’s fair. When I saw the nutcrackers on the shelf it was more of like, “hey look at this black nutcracker surrounded by a bunch of white nutcrackers.” Then thought it led to a pretty reasonable pun - white privilege christmas. Then I got to spitballing about diverse nutcrackers which wasn’t really a part of my initial thought process at the store. So here I am explaining my thought process to a bunch of internet strangers trying to convince them my joke had merit. Thats pretty much it.

Well the post was meant to be tongue and cheek. Obviously missed the mark on that. That being said there were maybe a dozen nutcracker models and one represented a person of color. So my latina significant other can choose between a bunch of white and one black nutcracker. So it definitely does connect to the concept of white privilege.
