I'm not in situation where i need to be taking food from pantries, just looking to save money here/there, reduce waste.

Good idea. i don't feel right going there myself but i do know folks who need that.

Some lesser know places: Hwy 9, Cutler Coast, Quoddy Head, Eastport, Polar Treat, Waas Preserve, Tunk Mountain, any public library.

I am still new to Maine but that pole at Auburn Walmart seems magical and well known. I would definitely consider it.

I'm living at the moment near Jonesport and go to Beals regularly. Waas preserve has about 8-10 miles of trails and it doesn't get busy, even in summer. Maybe 2-3 people who were there this winter judging by footprints. Part of trail goes along rocky shore. It's a quiet place. Clamming, fishing, kayaking, hiking. I think there is bar in Jonesport over the bridge. No thunder yet since last year.

They bring nitrogen into soil and help break up compacted soil with their tap root.

i relocated to ME/NB for several reasons, climate change being one of them. That said climate crisis has to worsen before people decide to uproot their households and move from say WA to northeast in numbers.

Don't have children, get vasectomy. This is singular most impactful action most of us are capable of.

Temperatures vary a lot with elevation and time of day here. Lowest where i slept this week was 14f, but it's dry, doesnt feel all that cold.
