For different types of CSAs, depending on what you're focused on, some people get a meat/eggs one at one farm veggies/greens at another and baked/canned goods at another. Most producers have some type of option. I like St Stephen's market on saturdays because it's laid out like a village, parking and access are easy, it's almost all food, and they went to a lot of trouble keeping everyone safe. Booths are still more than 6ft apart. Some local CSAs available there or at the Birdhouse market on Tuesdays: Broadfork Farm, TomTen Farm, Shirefolk Farm, Crumptown Farm, Amy's Organic.

Edit to add another resource: Some of these are listed on St Stephen's weekly market vendors page: https://www.ststephensrva.org/community/farmers-market/market-vendor-list-for-saturday/

I'm in the midst of some random home maintenance tasks that could use a spare set of hands, if you're into following directions one step at a time.

Unfortunately, I didn't go and do a broad search for all VZ stores in the area on that page. Nice how the 'no equipment returns' line is in fine print. What happens is going through their upgrade process steps, I was given instructions that include "any VZ store" as ok for returns. Looking through that page, return acceptance is only at 4 places in the greater RVA area. The Forest Hill store does take equipment, but they have no practice of sorting out incoming customers by need or complexity of issue. There should be a sign or a person to say "here is where you return equipment" but instead, you wait in line behind people who are doing complicated transactions that could take half an hour apiece. When all that's needed is to hand a box to someone who can key in the return code and wave bye, waiting an hour is not on my calendar.

Nothing is said about any of that on their websites, and the upgrade process cheerfully extols how simple it is to return your old VZ stuff to "any VZ store!" The simple act of returning used equipment to complete a contract should be streamlined at this point. Glad UPS is an option. I didn't find out that it was an option from the upgrade instructions, but from a net search in the parking lot on Forest Hill. Hope I've saved someone some moments of annoyance.

Sounds like you'd keep her if you could. The only trainer I know in RVA that deals with high drive dogs like that is Brenda at MuttluckRVA. I would reach out to her and see if she has suggestions for working with your dog.

Leek & Thistle, down in the Bottom, when they have it. Their take-home, netflix & warm-up menu is seasonally-driven because they buy from local farmers, so it changes. Pretty much anything they make is awesome though. They're having an open house menu tasting today, Thursday Oct 27. Worth checking out. https://www.leekthistle.com/

I don't, but I see it all over the place, and am down with your search. I know farmers that would love the help, that seems win-win. If you're out hunting, I've seen it on the southside at the bottom of the Lee bridge. There's a lot of foot traffic through the park trails that cross there, and along the Flood Wall, as well as the area around the T-Pot bridge. If you're interested in finding a farmer for a mutually beneficial partnership, LMK and I'll be happy to find one for you.
