You're trading pizza, bagels and Indian food, for great Mexican and Asian cuisine. Don't worry about the roads, you'll get worse roads for higher taxes.

NYPD is on par with some militaries in terms of spending and toys.

Instead of giving raises to their staff, who should be paid well, they add an extra 35k to their own salary. Some of their staff don't make 35k in a year.

We don't cut taxes to the bone and then spend the rest of the money brutalizing poor and minority communities (we do the latter plenty, but we do other things)

Meanwhile people in SoHo lose their shit if they get a homeless shelter in their neighborhood. Housing first is the compassionate, fiscally conservative way to solve this. Same laws and processes that hinder private construction, hinder affordable construction even more.

Also, why shouldn't small shops be allowed to sell some weed? They can sell cigarettes, and in some states they can sell liquor

Yes, the mayor of the second largest city in the state should spend all his time calling the state and investigating. Projects like these can be held up in lawsuits, if Fulop doesn't sign on to the lawsuit, then you'd be correct.

I wonder where high earning NYers would prefer to go. The old home? Or the new build? The older place is now cheaper to get tenants. Not to mention, JC's housing overlay means that more affordable housing will allow more units overall, hopefully reducing income segregation

With zoning law change allowing more density for more affordable units, it can hopefully grow more.

And because we don't pay government workers enough, we don't have capacity so we hire overpriced consultants. Like 2/3rds of the 7.7 billion spent on the SAS in NYC went to consultants. So we're barely penny-wise and just massively pound-foolish.
