As dad would say, definitely stay in school because it'll help you pay the bills (hopefully so that you can write with your free time!!).
After reading this piece, I searched your history for more prompt responses and was astonished that I could not find more. Just because you haven't been "successful" here before doesn't mean you aren't talented (because you are!) Please, please, please keep writing! A few of us would be happy to support you in your future endeavors.
Fwiw, I have a new pipe dream about doing voice-over work for this 3 dragon egg piece. My dream last night was about your work, and I woke up with a shit-eating grin!

u/juphikie, I understand time is a limited resource, but holy smokes you have kept more people entertained and imagining worlds beyond our earthly realm than you even realize.
You have some serious talent for world building and story crafting. I hope you continue to write and share because I loved every, single, second of this story!!

Out near willow creek we have been getting snow every other day for awhile now. The hilltops are all white and it's glorious

The Russian river doesn't need the water, but the vineyards, ranches, cannabis farmers and city of Santa Rosa sure need the water.

One evening, just as you're about to perform your little campfire ritual, you hear a voice behind you say "You know, I would very much prefer my food un-burnt." by DragoTheFloof
Seconded. I wish I could upvote this twice

Reply to Researchers propose that the role of the ectomycorrhizal fungi should be taken into account in models of carbon accounting. by KoalaWide2345
This is gonna be even harder to measure than with forests. I do think we should account for carbon sequestration in soil, but it's far harder to measure and find homogenous enough soil. Plus, with the way forest carbon accounting has ended up, it'll be a sham anyway.
I want this to work, but the logistics of digging one soil pit versus some quick work with a prism and notebook to account for carbon is something which gives me pause.
