Kendrick and Billie may be huge artists, but their music is forward-thinking and "alternative" in a lot of ways. I mean, a quick look at 1996 shows that Metallica and Soundgarden headlined that year, both of which had massive number 1 albums at that point, so it's not like they've ever been averse to booking mainstream headliners.

I think the issue is people are looking at "alternative" and thinking "alternative rock." New alt rock bands aren't headlining nowadays because rock isn't as popular. But Billie and Kendrick are great examples of hugely popular stars that's still doing something alternative, quite frankly a lot more alternative than most of the cookie-cutter alt rock bands of the 90s. It's just that rap and pop artists don't tend to get credit for being forward-thinking in the same way rock acts do.

Mods could be stopping link farming.

They could be turning the sub into a healthy place for discussing music, instead of a cesspit where the same old songs get upvoted time and time again, and anything outside of what a handful of redditors deems "real music" is immediately downvoted.

They could be removing the daily "recommend me music, I like anything" threads that add nothing of value (these are banned under rule 8 but they're never removed).

They could be combating the racism that's prevelant on the sub any time a black artist gets in any controversy.

They could, at the very least, ban people from posting "who?" on articles about artists' deaths.

They could either uphold or amend rules 6 and 7 since there's hundreds of posts breaking them every week.

They could respond to modmail, or at least acknowledge to the community that they're doing anything to combat the shocking state of this subreddit.

They don't do any of that and despite clearly not caring about the quality of the sub, they also refuse to appoint any new mods.

Literally nobody has "verbally abused" you. At most they've poked mild fun at you. Kind of seems like you were just expecting more people to agree with you.

You don't even need to look outside the mainstream honestly, there's plenty of good stuff even if you restrict yourself to what's popular.

What era are you talking about? Pac had been dead for years before 50 released his first album. Pretty sure Pac had some crossover with Vanilla Ice though, we can bring him back.

You're jumping into a five-day old thread to accuse me of being her manager because I acknowledged the fact that Carly has been popular in online music circles for 7 years now? Get over yourself mate.

Not denying that this may be a marketing account, but she's been huge in online music circles since 2015, her work is highly acclaimed and she's a lot more relevant than the decades-old songs that tend to reach the top of this sub.

Personally I'd rather have news, interviews and new releases on this sub than the same handful of songs being posted time and time again.
