Smartwool makes a pair of wool lined leather gloves that have worked well for me so far. I have not done much in the way of hard work with them so I am not sure how they will hold up to that, but they have worked great for light duty so far (honestly for heavy duty work your hands will be to hot in lined gloves anyway).

For ranch work i would suggest you go with the Surge. I have a family friend with a cattle ranch in Wyoming who has had, and abused, a Surge for 6 years. He has only had to warranty it twice, but he does go through the wire cutters about once a month. As long as you use each aspect of the tools within reason the Surge will last a long time. The only reasons he had to warranty it were 1: he snapped the plain knife off by trying to pry with it. 2: he snapped the large flat head off by trying to pry with it. He has not snapped anything on it since I gave him a LynchNW pocket prybar. Having said all of this, the main plier head is starting to wobble a little, but not much yet.

For most people yes, a belt really should not break from just wearing it to the office and around town. However, if you are doing a manual labour job belts can go pretty fast from my experience. I currently have a Core Essentials belt that is going on 3.5 years, but before that I was going through about 1 belt every 8 months regardless of price or maintenance.
