I've got Eclipse and Breaking Dawn (books 3 and 4 in the Twilight series) among my lowest rated books. Also Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, and The Lost Apothecary by Sarah Penner.

When I get really into what I'm reading, no. Most of the time, yes.
I used an app a while ago that claimed to help increase reading speed by reducing subvocalization. To practice, I would read a passage while counting out loud. Then started reading while counting in my head. I don't know that it really helped me, but worth a shot if this is something you're concerned about.

Winds of Winter. I don't even know why I still have hope.

I loved this book and I told my younger coworkers the ugly gist of the ugly duckling story and they looked at me and one of them said "now I get your sense of humor". He really was just an ugly duck. Iconic.

Definitely subscribe to publishers' instagrams and tiktoks. They promote what's coming out soon. There are often Goodreads listopias that are called "Horror books released in 2023" or similar. Keep track of what Book of the Month is selling.

It was one of my favorite books I read last year. I'm so glad I found it. Definitely a comforting book.

I read them all when I was in high school. I remember being SO disappointed that the climax of the whole series was this standoff where NOTHING HAPPENED.
It was so lame. And I'm still mad about it.

I didn't ever use that feature...but sometimes authors answer questions about their books on their author pages. Good luck!

ooooh, yeah. The goodreads mobile app is straight trash for the community part of the site. I'm usually on it when I'm at work and on a desktop.

Join some groups. Most of them have a "introduce yourself" or "meet some new friends" threads. That's how I've found all mine.

In addition to the white noise suggestions, I also listen to playlists in the Focus genre on spotify. They're mostly instrumental, a lot of lofi, some classical, some video game/movie soundtracks.
I also sometimes enjoy ambience videos on youtube in the background while I read. You can get fires crackling or water trickling.
