Someone said on Twitter I'd paid "$10k" to be verified. Do people actually believe this? The original verification was done if you had some sort of profile and was always free. Companies would be verified if they had an ad campaign large enough, but also were verified for free along the same lines as journalists etc.

I used to use rubbing alcohol on my shoes, it absolutely does work although it gives them a slightly different whiff - but it’s not obnoxious.

My oldest North Face fleece/hoodie just will not give up. Every one since has fallen apart - pockets on the front seem a weak spot, they'll get holes at the stress points.

I can't give you an answer based on experience - but what about a heat pump washer/dryer. I've heard really good things (they operate at much lower temps) and should perform better than the condeser type machines. They are slow, but are more energy efficient.
