Legally speaking it has to be a driver with 5 consecutive years of driving. Somebody that young and inexperienced is not the best to learn from.

I'd recommend reaching out to the drive schools for practice. You don't need to sign up for their $200+ packages that include testing and all that nonsense. Just practice driving. See if any of them have programs for low income or immigrants—you won't know till you ask.

After you feel confident , you can then test with the DoL for $35 (which covers knowledge test and drive test, as long as you pass the knowledge test).
