You absolutely have to stop at Zeb’s General Store, this landmark store carries everything you can imagine, and if you can get out without buying some fudge I’d be surprised.

Our first year in our townhome we had really high gas bills for the winter: 1300sqft and an old gas hot water heater, our bill ranged $300-$400 a month. Replaced the water heater with a tankless on-demand and replaced our drafty windows with new ones, and my bill dropped considerably. That investment has paid for itself.

Look into a service called nomorobo, it’s usually free. You add them on your phone line, and they check incoming caller ID against their database of robocalls, and if they find it they answer it, usually after the first ring.

By in large, you’ll do better with a credit union than a bank, they tend to have lower fees and better customer service, as well as strong community ties. I left BoA many years of numerous fees and run arounds for DCU, and after 10 years I’ve no regrets.

They’re not found up in Concord, but there are plenty with state-wide branches. Credit Unions are mostly networked, so there is rarely a fee to withdraw from others (used my DCU card at a CU in Orlando, no fee), plus they often refund such fees as well.
