I see this a lot, but I think that if you think every year is just as bad or worse than the last, that's just you getting old and depressed.
It's normal to think the world is worse than it was when you were young. You'll seek out news and information to confirm that feeling.
It's good to maintain some perspective and be critical of your feelings. Having a bad year is normal, but the world isn't any worse than it was 100 years ago unless you're focusing on very specific cherry picked criteria.

Excuse me? You clearly didn't attend my family's Thanksgiving dinner or aren't set up to receive my grandparents' emails. Besides, I've seen enough stickers on gas pumps to know this is OBVIOUSLY all Joe Biden's fault

No he didn't. He's charging them a ton. Recently bills weren't paid and he shut their internet off.

All rats pretty much die of cancer, iirc, if you just wait 2-3 years. But yeah, I wonder if they expose them to something that increases the likelihood of specific cancers.

Reply to comment by fhayde in What are ‘robot rights,’ and should AI chatbots have them? by HarpuasGhost
We don't even apply this logic to many animals which are undoubtedly sentient, can suffer, and feel pain. We share recent common ancestors with many of these species and share zero with AI.
I'm not against granting AI rights in the future, but many animals will need to be granted rights before then, imo. I just think it's funny we're so anxious to treat something which feels no pain has no sentience (at least for a long time from now) with respect and as an equal when we are absolute monsters to everything else living on this planet.
Let's first treat humans and everything that suffers with some BASIC respect before moving on to the mental gymnastics required to do the same for language models.
