Yeah, I find that a bit weird. And I guess they can’t make them tiny cam or mic icons instead.

I’m mostly used to it, and I personally still find it more useful than just a large block at the top doing nothing. Perhaps Apple can still tweak it to make it less annoying, though the shape may stay the same as long as the front facing camera and Face ID are in the same place.
