Scammers find these ads and google images that match the dog. Then they demand money through burner phones and keep demanding it even though they don’t actually have the animal. After a paid phone # look up, the dognapper’s number had been reported for several of the same scams/threats. It’s unfortunately common

So we did some detective work last night and found the “dognapper” to be a scammer. The dog’s owners are elderly and didn’t know. Reverse phone number check and a little more research showed that this is a common scam. Unfortunately that poor baby is still out there :(
