I understand idealogically what you're saying. However , the words Make America Great Again are actually not fine on their own at all. The words All Are Welcome obviously are fine on their own, as you said, because they dont not recklessly harken to the past.

I think a better comparison would be to say it's like banning the color red because it's also the color of blood/gore. Politicians are actively making a battle out of rainbow 🌈 coloring. Which is so silly and a waste of time because a rainbow also happens to be a useful set of colors in a school ground, whether paired with welcoming words or not.😂

Wow, that's really bad. I sympathize for you and feel similar paranoia. I think my ideal state of being would be to call the non emergency line and report behavior like that. Though I've never done. I regret not doing it though.

This is true in my experience. I have grown up in the south and lived here a total of almost 30 years, whilst also spending years in Colorado and in Florida and plenty of big city, cross country, and mountain driving and international. Basically just lots of driving lol. I've only been in Richmond 6 months and it is by far the most reckless and mindless driving I have ever experienced. People are bad in other places, but I've never seen such a large percentage of people straight up not pay attention, talk about drinking and driving like it's absolutely fine, not even pay attention to the lines and be absolute pricks. Also speeding on one ways or neighborhoods, parking lots. I've developed extreme driving and car paranoia in the last 6 months.

I think it's because people know this town like the back of their hands and just are too comfortable tbh. The roads are some of the weirdest and most nonsensical I've ever experienced.

Edit to delete the I'm sorry cause I'm not 👌

I agree with almost everything said here and have experienced the infamous BOH v. FOH war in richmond, and many other places. But unfortunately the tipping system is truthfully the only reason people stay in FOH and can somewhat stand their lives. Especially in more "fine dining" places where it more closely resembles other creative industries (aka cocktail mixing, table side service, etc. (I realize it also has major issues.) It needs to be done fairly and each place is different, so I'm leaving it vague for now. Respectfully, I want to just state this opinion and not reddit argue about it at this time. Some will agree, lots won't, and that's OK.
