Once I confronted the part of me that was offended by this idea it really did change everything for the better. It is NOT something you can tell/should someone who is feeling acute pain but it does give you the equanimity required to better help them.

Michael Pollan's "How to Change Your Mind" helped me understand the science behind what you describe and what I can deeply relate to... and meditation (and yes, microdosing) has definitely sparked my awe/love/joy of life again.
I have also never enjoyed reading more than now and "A Short History of Nearly Everything" was my portal back into awe.

I am a weird hybrid? I grew up in extreme violence in inner city Detroit but yet our dad had a keen love of nature and 2-3 times a month he would take us out hiking through a specific park + give us a quarter for every plant we could identify. Statistically, I was both fucked and blessed - the upshot is, I have no violent tendencies (brother was not so lucky) and I do have a deep appreciation for nature that feels reciprocal.
It can be hard to get out sometimes but I never regret it.

I saw a brief AB moment last year just south of Portland. What stunned me more than the colors (silver, purple, pink and blue) was how it was shaped and moved like an entity - a cylinder with uniform flags rolling with it before it faded into a cloud. My SO had just died and he obsessed with night skies - I could not help thinking it was from him.
It may have been the most beautiful thing I have ever seen.
