Former high school marching band member here: the best thing you can do is dress in layers. Wear at least 2 shirts, one being long sleeves, a hoodie and a coat. Wear at least two pairs of socks, the longer the better. and a pair of long Johns or leggings under your pants. Use the hot hands you mentioned and bring a hat, scarf and maybe two pairs of gloves. I think they still sell hot chocolate and coffee at certain concessions stands.

Maybe instead of a second job are there any classes you can take to earn a degree or certification? You might not be making extra money as quickly but you might be able to earn more overtime and be more competitive when it comes time for promotions.
