Why not go up through Fredericton and cross in houlton/ Woodstock. Take the trans Canada (rt 2 if I recall) and dump off in Woodstock. Used to travel that way a bit and it only adds like 30 minutes to the ride and you have all awesome highway the whole way. Rt9 is horrible even if the roads are clear.

Just paid 350 for a new pair, they’re repairable and my last pair lasted 3 years. So $100/year roughly on boots that I only had to replace because the waterproof finally gave out at the crease. They’re still more than functional for dry work though.

Add 117 from Hiram to Denmark on that run and pop out on 302 in bridgton for a good little loop.

They’re decent in the woods if they’re goretex and insulated. They’re quiet but they’re slippery on logs or algae covered rocks. Other than that, they’re pretty much terrible in any slippery (icy/ packed snow/ muck) condition. Most folks who says differently are either wearing crampons of sorts or has never worn an actual boot.
