I didn’t make the post. No one from Springfield made the post. Nobody is coming online beaming with pride over the low cost of living bragging to others about how great it is and thumbing our noses at other cities.

The narrative you’ve constructed is fiction.

A guest in the city is saying they think it’s a great place, partly because it’s relatively affordable to live here. What good reason could we possibly have to be assholes to them about it?

We left Republic Services a few years ago for Queen City Disposal, and they’ve been totally reliable. In addition, our prices haven’t skyrocketed. They adjusted slightly for gas. But when we were with Republic they basically raised our rates twice a year without fail until I called to complain, then they would lower it for a bit, then just start the cycle of raising the price again. Part of me wondered how high they would go, but I didn’t feel like paying out for an academic exercise.

Yes! It started yesterday for me. I actually called Brightspeed eventually to see if there was an area issue and they said no. Clearly they were wrong.

Really great seeing the group of young black girls in that second picture. Didn’t expect to see them represented in a Springfield parade from the 50s!

Wonder if they were part of a club or some other organization. Would love if someone had some more info.

Edit: Just hitting me that the schools were likely segregated at the time, and this is probably a marching troupe from an elementary school. Showing my ignorance that it didn’t occur to me right away.

Exactly. Even though I often bemoan that’s it’s ever needed, when your statement is indistinguishable from other sincere comments you can find on the same sub you need to make it clear.

I do think if it was me and I knew I had done nothing wrong I’d make them fire me rather than resign. I think you’ve got a much better case against them that way.

However, we don’t know what was said behind closed doors, and could see someone convincing her that it was better for her to resign quietly, then she changed her mind afterwards and came forward.

Honestly from the outside it’s impossible to know.

Seconding this. Just call them up and tell them you need a flu shot. They won’t bother scheduling time with the Dr and won’t code it as a check-up. Ask them specifically how they’ll file with insurance if you’re worried.
