Helps that the list of common Japanese names is fairly short.
Then when you learn Japanese and realize it's mostly mixing and matching a few common things like season, weather, common descriptive adjectives, and child/girl/boy at end, it becomes really easy to recognize.

Fines go up. The threshold for meeting that fine is what never changes.
If you're ever unsure, just ask yourself, "Which way is more advantageous to the State?" You'll have your answer.

You could stand at what is at the top of this picture, turn around, and shoot that direction. A lot of people take Highway 1 south and get out to photograph McWay Falls (which OP said they did in a different reply), which isn't visible from the coast if you're facing north, only south.

It looks weird being photographed facing north to me. You always seem to see pictures facing south to include McWay Falls.

That's the point. I saw the same footage 20 and 30 and 40 years ago. Something isn't lost to the viewing public because you've personally never bothered to look for it.

...a military career with heavy exposure to FMS, logistics, and strategic planning? You can't quantify the value or benefit of global military power projection, so obviously there isn't some peer-reviewed study to cite. However, the infrastructure of the U.S. military is light years ahead of anything else the world has ever seen. It's past the point that money is a limfac in what's possible or not.

Bang for buck, I don't think anyone else even comes close. You could hand the actual dollar amount we spend to any other country and they couldn't produce a force with a fraction the capability.

That's only going by number of aircraft. Going by value of aircraft, China and Russia are probably 2 and 3.

Reply to TIL that elements of the ancient Mesopotamian religion (first formed in the 6th millennium BC) may have survived until the early 20th century. The Shamsīyah, a sect of sun-worshippers, persisted in southeastern Turkey (sometimes outwardly adopting Christian customs) until the early 1900s. by RexSueciae
If you're going to worship anything, the sun makes sense.
It's the source of nearly all life and the elements as far as we know. And it's sustained that life for hundreds of millions of years.
Our planet and everything on literally revolves around it.
We know it's real. We know where it is. We can look up to see it and feel it on our skin. (Note: don't do either of these things too much)
And yet, we can't touch it or even get near it. It's as destructive as it is creative and sustaining.

I want to live long enough to stop working, stop worrying, and enjoy it for a few years at the end. I don't think that's asking too much based on how much I'm putting in now.

Oh, I read it to mean the men work themselves to death and the women benefit from it to live long lives. That's been my experience anyway.

Honest question here: who do you think is going to take it more seriously now that we have what was already assumed with a study to back it up? I'm all for data to back up assumptions, but I'm struggling to see what difference it will make in this case.
