Reply to Did anyone in this hobby ever stop buying new gear because they found what they were looking for? by sujanfloofens
I’ve reached a comfortable spot. I’m certainly less interested in the hobby now, which bodes well for my wallet.
But for me, it’s:
HD560s, IE200 w/ Springtips and Airpods Pro Gen 2.
I have tonnes more. Countless chi-fi IEMs, open-back audiophile headphones, the latest TWS pairs and ANC headphones… but at the end of the day, these are the only units I use anymore. I value comfort equal or just above sound quality and consider myself a FR cultist.
IE200 was the final piece of the puzzle for me. The comfortable isolation and form factor really elevate them above my Moondrops, Truthears etc. I also like that they’re priced sensibly - meaning they are what the average person would consider premium, but if I ever lose them or damage them, I can replace them without much fuss.

Well, that depends on budget. But having said that, I’d absolutely recommend the Salnotes Zero. Next in like would likely be the Truthear Hexa.
I’d also highly recommend the Truthear Zero.
I have all of the E series Finals’ and my favourite is the E4000 by far. But I’d still recommend the Salnotes first. I know it’s cheap, but it’ll show you just how unrelated price and sound quality are.

No. They aren’t comparable. The e3000 is basically a e1000 with a massive sub and mid-bass boost.
It’s not an upgrade, it’s a definite side-grade.

Sean Olive also speculated this.

Pay $5000 for a headphone.
Doubt creeps in.
Make reassuring meme.

Yeah, people prioritising FR are the clowns :)

I actually prefer my Gen 2’s.
The ANC means I can listen at very low levels, and I find the in-ear comfort unbeatable.

Have you tried the Gen 2’s?
I used to use my APP’s for convenience. Now I also use them to chill out and listen to music at home.

HD560s, IE200 w/ springtips and Apple USB-C dongle. Throw in an APP Gen 2 or Buds2 Pro (depending on phone OS).
Create your “it’s not much, but it’s mine” post for a nice little karma boost, then /leave this sub a champion and never look back.
