Baldwin being one or two lanes would not have made a difference in last years death. The car that hit her was traveling east along 139 and she was crossing 139 going north/south along Baldwin. She was not crossing Baldwin.

The state does not allow speed cameras, and making Baldwin a one way would not make crossing 139 any safer. The lady died last year was crossing 139.

Even speed bumps would be better. Forcing everyone to stop and idle at every light has significant disadvantages.

It’s actually comical sometimes. They couldn’t make it less efficient if they tried.

The city could install speed bumps. Anything is better then the current light timing.

Even that would be better than stopping at every single light.

I support the things the article mentioned, daylighting and leading pedestrian intervals. Timing lights so you stop on every block is not the solution. Driving in NYC is way more efficient and they have reduced fatalities significantly.

Do you have any actual data that it reduces fatalities? Most people get hit by turning cars and light timing does nothing to protect pedestrians in crosswalks.

Or you have a driveway/parking garage.

Timing the lights better would fix this.

My friend got rode through the tunnel on a bike like 15 years ago. He got a ticket in the other side but they didn’t actually arrest him.
