If you like out to eat there isn’t much of that there . Shop around , try to find a market basket for groceries.as some Places to shop are a tad expensive.

If you do rent something and have to provide your own heating oil that can be expensive also. If you make your own food for the most part your golden there are tons of great farms around.

Vermont is mostly rural but the scenic views and nature are amazing !

We are planning our permanent move back to either Vernont or Maine next summer .

I lived in Vermont for a year. I would still live there if there was appropriate housing but the market is very tight and expensive there . Had a great experience , loved the state , wish I could be there right now ! Look at Zillow for rentals it’s slim .

I worked at Okemo and they did provide housing for some out of state employees so you could ask about that .

It’s terrible they start it out small then it becomes this all encompassing thing with ads everywhere , online play , in every store and then kiosks for it.

They also tune it to be addicting and research how to get you to pay more .

It’s so alluring to think you could solve all your problems by hitting a million or more but the odds are so bad it’s unlikely even if you played everyday you would ever win anything g like that .

The human brain has trouble understanding the kind of numbers in those odds and how bad it really is.

Better off without it!

I like playing the lottery sometimes but some states they went to the next level and it is everywhere trying to get as much money as possible.

If you played 1 drawing for each drawing game where I live every week , it would cost 73 bucks.

You know it’s like hey buddy over saturating the market a bit there …. I like some chance but it’s easy to fall to deep into that .

I agree people always make a deal about the state tax but that state will get its money somehow. Certain houses in certain counties in New Hampshire was ridiculous when I was looking to buy there .

A 350 k house with 12 k yearly tax bill which would mean you could pay the house off and still owe 1000 bucks a month .

But hey no sales tax …

There is so many different sciences or schools of science that it does happen more so in some then others.

Theories and physics is a bit different but it can happen to have that ah ha moment.

There is so much that we don’t know or can see it’s hard to have it all figured out.

I have been reading about the whole dark energy thing for awhile and it never clicked .

So I guess I am excited about a different theory on the matter .

And no matter how smart any of us or all of humanity thinks we are we probably don’t even know a percentage of a percent of what would be considered the truth .

Science can be matlockesqe it has happened ..

When somebody finally cracks a cure to polio or malaria or eventually cancer sure there will have to be trails and studies but that person will feel that moment .

Spatial theory might be a whole different ballgame when it comes to that because even when you think you have it figured out you really don’t.

It is hard to have it all figured out when you can only see one piece of the puzzle.

I am from the south and my wife is a nurse . We moved to Vermont in 2020 then moved away in 2021 due to housing and extended family issues . We are now going back because my wife misses working at Dartmouth so much . Dartmouth pays very well for permanent nurses and is offering some great bonuses right now.

She has worked at 7 different hospitals and she said for sure Dartmouth treated her the best and paid her the best minus travel contracts . But they are almost matching pay of some travel contracts .

I currently live in Virginia and you can grow and smoke it but the only place you can buy it is in DC which is shady and not very good .

They are also trying their best to repeal it . Almost all northeastern states , west coast states , and Colorado are full legal.

In Maine they can’t even test you for it for a job anymore .

The Ben and Jerry’s factory is in Waterbury.

Almost all ski resorts are hiring and low staffed I worked at Okemo and got an email at the beginning of the season that they are starting at 20 an hour now. I found my job there was pretty freeing and interesting of course there is good and bad with everything . Vail resorts owns a lot of the ski resorts now.

It is coming don’t worry ….

My first winter in Vermont 2020 it snowed 46 inches in 24 hours .

It really didn’t start snowing until mid December but the ski resorts open season middle November .

After it started snowing though you just assumed it was going to snow some every day .

My kid wasn’t allowed to come to school unless he brought snow boots and a snow bib from December to April I think .

I am from the south also so it was very different then what I was used to and it was what I was looking for.

There are Tesla chargers in the parking garage under the hotel at Okemo ski resort .

In front of the hotel in the parking lot in front of the icehouse there are some in the open parking lot there also.

I used to work as maintenance there.

I had the same issue when I first moved to Vermont because I lived with n the south and we normally just have central heat and air and no worries.

We had to get used to getting ready for winter , making sure the fuel tank was filled and checking the level on the fuel tank . You only run out once before you figure out fuck that I need to be on point with this because it takes them 3-4 days to get to you.

On the plus side endless hot water as long as you don’t run out of fuel .

It’s a really bad time for this type of heat also with the increases in kerosene costs and such .

I have read a lot of people get central heat and air now up there and just turn on the alternate heat when it gets really cold.
