> The key point is that despite the moniker “Big Dig Debt,” all of these projects directly relate to transit expansion or improvements like extending the commuter rail on the South Shore and to Worcester, adding parking spaces, building out the Fairmount Line — not roadways and, certainly, not the Big Dig. They came about as a result of an agreement that had to be signed in order for the environmental permitting around the Big Dig to take place.

This is exactly the type of insight I was looking for, thank you so much! My tax person is currently a family friend, I’ve been working with him since I graduated college so I feel like I’m a good spot there already. If you don’t mind me asking, how much did your health insurance cost increase by percentage wise?

Yeah eversource has to clear every rate hike with the state. Conversation probably goes like this:

“These were the quotes we got last year from LNG providers. This is what we’re getting this year now that we have to compete with Europe for LNG. We have to raise prices by X to cover it.”

“Understood, approved.”

I got downvoted to hell for pointing out that allowing the city to unilaterally rip up a CBA between itself and the union was an absolutely terrible precedent, no matter how much “greater good” it would be for. No one wanted to hear that the unions bargain on behalf of their members and no one else, which is why concerned citizens don’t have a seat at the table.
