The guaranteed way is the JFK air train to the A train to the PATH. There is 24/7 PATH train service from Manhattan to New Jersey. Google Maps is good for finding the best train station. PATH might be slow at night, but it will get you to Jersey City, Hoboken, Harrison, or Newark. Depending on where in NJ you need to go, you may also be able to find a NJ transit train from New York Penn Station or buses in/around the Port Authority Bus Terminal.

Your account number is the only thing a company needs to switch you to an alternate energy provider. All you need to do is show them a copy of your bill (or tell them the number over the phone) and they will switch you against your will. At that point your supply charges (which pays for poles and power lines into your house) still goes to PSE&G but rather than choose the cheapest available power generator, you now buy your power from whatever company you switch to.

People sometimes do this because they want their power bill to go toward some kind of environmentally friendly company but rarely will switching ever save you money. If someone cold calls or approaches you, it's a scam.

Often when a listing says "no pets" they mean "no dogs" and when they mean "no dogs" they mean only "dogs that are destructive or a liability for insurance e.g. pit bulls" This sort of thing is often negotiable. If you're set on a certain area and having trouble finding place, try working with a good realtor. This is why we pay them fees.

It makes sense that the Port Authority would have a contingency for turning the train around at Grove without stopping at Journal Square. Maybe my memory is playing tricks on me but I could swear I've heard of this happening.

Yes, the official rule is to only put recycling out in loose in bins, but in practice people still regularly leave it in bags. The question is why are your neighbors getting away with it while you're not? Are they using clear or blue bags while you're not? Do they have a clear line of sight? While your bags are hidden? Is your neighbor a store or restaurant? If so they could have arranged for a private company to pickup their trash.on a certain day, and you're setting recycling out on the wrong day.
