I mean, that’s why it’s great in my opinion, you have plenty to do until 8/9pm and then you can Uber to downtown if you really want to. But I’d wager that no one moves to Ashland for the nightlife - they move there because it’s incredibly chill and not rowdy at night (aside from Huddle Up)!

I’d imagine that people who chose to live in Ashland don’t mind driving 15 minutes to do whatever they want, or they enjoy spending time outdoors at the various parks / shopping and dining on the tracks in town, etc. I guess I don’t know why everyone just assumes it’s a barren wasteland. With nothing to do?

Interesting! Is it unsearchable? I don’t see it nor have I seen it come up in my time as a mom on FB. I think all groups have their drama some way or another, but I have also seen lots of people come together in the RVA Moms group to help each other many times.

We have two cats and have gotten automatic feeders that go off at exactly the same time in different rooms, so they just bolt to their assigned spot and I don’t have to do a dang thing, it’s amazing.

They are building a new school right next to John M Gandy in Ashland, lots of diggers! It’s also next to a fire station and sometimes you can go ask them for a tour and check out the fire trucks 🚒

That’s kind of what we were going for, but our daughter is the only child in the whole group. His mom basically said she waits all year for us to buy gifts for her, it’s so weird. It’s a toxic relationship that probably won’t be tolerated much longer.

My MIL went on an absolute tirade about how she deserves presents after we asked if this year we skip the adults gift exchange for Christmas due to our lack of extra funds. Then she said how last year our gifts weren’t very good anyways and we should have tried harder this year. WTF? Thanks for ruining Thanksgiving you fucking loser. I can’t imagine responding with anything but kindness and understanding if one day my daughter asked to skip gifts. Jesus.

Finally got the adults we exchange gifts to agree to skipping it this year so that’s a big relief to us (and probably them as well) in this season of huge unexpected bills. I’m thankful to have a family friend to host us for Thanksgiving on Thursday but I still have to come up with an appetizer and a dessert to bring.
