Production value is excellent.

And acting is great, obviously, since they paid top talent.

And the ideas are interesting.

But it also feels small. They keep focusing on random off-center issues, rather than the central ideas. The basic gist (what will future look like with climate change) has so much potential for great and big ideas, so its odd they focus on random side-issues.

Make sense. But Severance is a hit. And Apple+ will want many seasons. Its safe.

Flip side is something like 1899 on Netflix. They cancelled it after S1. So why invest if they are only going to cancel it. From now on I'll just wait. If its a hit, there will be more seasons. If not, then no reason to watch in first place. Win-win.

I also thought it was great.

But I think I'm at that point where I don't want to start watching a show until its run is over. "Severance" was the straw that broke the camels bank. They didn't answer any of the central secrets (what are they doing, why are they there, etc) and I'm tired of waiting years for answers.

Theres no forward momentum. That is the problem

S1 was an origin story, which are always fun.

S2 was during covid, so got a pass

S3 is just... a random series of events strung together with a few laughs.

I suspect, since they come from the IASIF mind-set, of having dozens of seasons, that the goal is just to string it out as long as possible and take that sweet Apple+ money.
