On xbox series, there's quick resume where you can suspend (save state) multiple games, even with the console turned off.
So you can play single player games while waiting for a friend to be ready for online games. Then when friend is ready, simply switch to the online game. No need to look for save point in the single player game.
On Xbox, the dashboard also almost never need to be touched
