They only officially begin accepting orders for delivery an hour from now…there’s still hope. Zero chance that grubhub support will give me a refund, I can only assume it’s typical gig economy BS.

hm i just placed a Grubhub order, will follow up if it actually shows up. They're my favorite spot for takeout! I wonder if they just decided to ditch the GIGANTIC restaurant that was always empty and use a ghost kitchen?

yeah they gotta have a solid scam where they make more money turning over tenants than keeping them. maybe fees, maybe security deposits, or maybe something as dumb as commissions on "new" tenants for sales people who happen to also work in the building.

Then I’d suggest we sign a 1 year contract with the private company and give leadership the ultimatum to train up staff and fix processes, then gradually begin routing calls back into the city owned facilities. This is not something I want a city to “forget” how to do, due to attrition or privatization.

I’m happy to get dispensaries. Current price and selection is unbelievably bad right now. You can buy a 1g cart in Manhattan for $35, or you can buy a 500mg cart at Rise in Elizabeth for $65… it’s gonna take some serious work to get these prices under control. I made one purchase at an NJ dispensary for the sentimental value, but that’s gonna be it for me until the prices drop below double, from their current quadruple…

Welcome to JC! This behavior is regrettably tolerated by everyone. I moved here about ten years ago, from Seattle. I crossed the street here like I did in Seattle, and I got hit several times on Kennedy Blvd. It hurts. At the time, people told me with alarming certainty that cars don’t actually have to yield to pedestrians in crosswalks in NJ. The city has invested a LOT in road design to make this better - and believe it or not, it’s significantly better than it was then.

Ha! I was warned about this raccoon by a Verizon service tech last night! That thing must really be making an impression everywhere it goes.

PATH “runs all night” …kinda. I’ve spent a lot of hours sitting at Christopher street or WTC waiting on trains. And then there’s the Hoboken issue on weekends. And the crowd levels can be nuts at 2am because the trains run so infrequently.

You have two choices in JC: produce that is “basmado” (so green it will rot before it ripens) and produce you need to eat TODAY. (I guess 3 if you like to pay freshdirect $20 for 5 oranges.) if you live near them, the produce markets will sell you passable produce for TODAY. Just expect to need 3-4 trips a week, and nothing will last beyond 72hrs under any circumstance.
