I definitely thought that a state owned liquor monopoly was an interesting quirk when I moved to Virginia, but imagine my confusion the first time I went to Pennsylvania.

I have a friend who is full time with ABC, it’s a surprisingly good job. I had never considered that liquor store employees worked for the state.
