Thorby in Citizen of the Galaxy by Heinlein. My memory is pretty bad and I often forget the names of characters but remember their actions. Thorby sticks out in that I read the book once over a decade ago and still occasionally think about the character and what he went on to do after the book ends.

The original started out very wholesome. Dan didn’t really start going full perv until a few seasons in. He actually started out pretty stuffy and dull.

I didn't have any problems reading it. It seemed overly descriptive at times but I figure it just felt that way because I read it after reading a short story anthology. The only part that bothered me >!was the damned shurikens that keep getting mentioned but he never does anything with.!<

I've always had the view of "if I can tell who you are, it's a successful costume." Doesn't matter how bad it might look. If they're indentifiable, they win. It's the mashup costumes that sometimes throwme.

Not everyone has the skills and tools to do amazing costumes. I'm not going to be the one to shit on someone who's learning to do something and potentially stop their creative adventures.
