Pure logistics. With it being the last week of the season, there’s no time to make it up without messing up the playoff schedule. Plus, in the NFL, all teams play on the same day the last week to all have the same (earned) rest days for the first playoff games, there’d be a lot of flack if Buffalo or Cincinnati got punished playoff wise as a result of the injury.

Ah, I’ve always questioned that retort. I think technically, if they did it without permission AND admitted it was a direct inspiration, the producers of It’s a Wonderful Life could sue Sesame Street for it. By publicly saying “no, there’s no inspiration there, just a funny coincidence”, they covered their butts from legal liability. The idea that there’s two independent set of characters in broad American media named Bert and Ernie that interact with each other when those nicknames are pretty uncommon seems highly unlikely to me.

I’m sorry, I’m trying my best to keep up with football, basketball, and baseball. I know I won’t have time for another sport and I know that means that most people won’t be able to keep up as well. (Plus the cynic in me knows they’ll probably ignore Ohio so not a whole lot of pressure to get into it)
