People don’t just randomly stop to talk to you for no reason. It’s because they want something from you - 99% of the time it’s a scam or beggars. Ignore and keep walking. You’re not obligated to give people money just because they ask you for it no matter how aggressive. You’re not obligated to be nice or polite. Ignore and walk away.

Most embassies do walk in services - Vietnam is not at all unusual in this regard. All you do is show up in person during the consulate’s hours with sufficient time to be seen before they close. Appointment only is actually actually pretty unusual.

You can also hire a courier/passport service to submit it in person if you don’t want to go in person or mail it FYI.

6 years? Not much. Restaurants, bars, and stores have come and gone. The office space areas of downtown are generally emptier with people not working in the office 5 days a week but it's def not a ghost town as some people suggest. McPherson and Franklin Squares have been cleaned up. That's about it.

Practice loudly yelling “stop harassing me creep,” “get away from me,” or “leave me alone.” It’ll scare the guy off and other riders will notice what’s going on and help. Teach her to stand up for herself. Creeps count on girls and women being too scared to make a scene or being afraid of not being polite. Sign her up for a self defense class, and get her to read The Gift of Fear.

She can also text the metro police if someone is bothering her or ask any normal looking person on the metro for help. We all know what it’s like to be a teenager being preyed upon.

Nope. I feel as safe now as I did Pre-Covid. Honestly, I have no idea what you’re talking about. I’m a woman who walks, runs, and metros at night.

Do you actually feel unsafe because something is making you feel unsafe or do you just think there’s a lot of crime because you read Reddit and follow the news? Most of the posts complaining about how unsafe DC is are by people who don’t actually get out in DC, and it’s this giant echo chamber of how everyone is a victim of constant crime and no one is ever safe.

Have you talked to your doctor about your anxiety?
