And if the magistrate finds you responsible you can always hire an attorney before your court date.
Absolutely fight it. If the state wants to hit you with this then make them work for it and use the court's time and resources.

I realized I was thinking of Guam. They are west of the date line so I guess it depends on whether you include territories or not.

I think there is one remote island of Alaska that is technically west of the international date line and thus is the first part of the US to begin each day. But that's stupid so Maine all the way.

I don't know any good shark lawyers but if you need an expert in bird law I know of a particularly skilled one in Philadelphia.

Living in the North Shore I would love a Ferry directly to the South Shore and Cape. My parents live in Plymouth and the quickest way to get there is currently to swim.

Seriously. The path has been public since the 1800s. What did you think was going to happen when you bought the property? I once had an apartment across the street from a bar. People were smoking on the street and talking loudly until 2 AM but I knew that when I signed the lease so I didn't complain. This homeowner is so entitled, I hope 7 dogs take a dump on her lawn this weekend.
